The habaki is single-layered copper.

Shizu Saburō Kaneuji was a swordsmith of the Yamato Tegaki school. He initially signed his work as “Kane,” but it is said he changed his signature to “Kaneshi” when he moved to Shizu in Taige District, Mino Province (present-day Shizu, Minami-Nō Town, Kaizu City, Gifu Prefecture). Regarding Kaneji's lineage, he has traditionally been counted among the Masamune School and even listed as one of Masamune's Ten Disciples. Judging from extant works, he clearly received significant influence from Masamune, making this classification entirely plausible. His name continued to be used until the late Muromachi period.

This sword, dating from around 1500, features a broad blade with pronounced curvature at the waist, a wide tip, and a slightly elongated point. Its cool-toned jigane (ground metal) combines fine-grained and small-grained patterns, adorned with thick, brightly sparkling jibune (ground-metal speckles). The hamon (temper line) displays a beautiful, vibrant pattern of mutsu-me (interlocking waves), chōji-ha (clove-shaped edge), and and tip-like hamon, with scattered flying hamon, foot and leaf patterns, creating a splendidly chaotic effect.
