This is a Japanese sword fitting called a “Shingen tsuba” (Shingen guard), crafted during the Edo period (16th to 19th centuries).

Material and Technique: Its most distinctive feature is the decoration achieved by inlaying or weaving brass and copper wire onto an iron plate.
Also Known As: Due to its distinctive pattern resembling a centipede, it is also called the “Centipede Tsuba.”
Design: Fine brass wire is intricately wrapped around the perimeter, showcasing a rugged yet meticulous craftsmanship.
