School: Inherits the tradition of the Enju school, also known for its swordsmiths. He initially studied under Hōjishimori Masayuki, a clan craftsman of Satsuma, and later became a disciple of Suishinshi Masahide, renowned as one of the “Three Great Edo Forgers.”
Name: Hexagonal Enso Pattern Tsuba
Technique: The iron ground displays a magnificent forged texture (wood-grain or straight-grain patterns), characterized by the powerful texture unique to “swordsmith tsuba” crafted by the swordsmith himself.
Design: The surface is adorned with concentric lines and arabesque patterns resembling bracken leaves. This design is believed to replicate the “Rokuhō Enso” motif popular around the Muromachi period.
